Steve Nicholas is Senior Manager for Air Quality and Sustainable Practices at the Northwest Seaport Alliance, one of the busiest container gateways in the U.S. His team leads a range of programs to accelerate the port’s to zero-emission operations, including the award-winning Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy. Prior to joining NWSA, Steve was Vice President for US Programs at the Institute for Sustainable Communities and director of the City of Seattle’s Office of Sustainability and Environment, where he co-authored the City's first climate action plan and staffed the US Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement. He co-authored “The Guide to Greening Cities” (Island Press, 2013) and holds a BA in Public Policy from Colby College and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
