Sunny Knott is the Zero Emissions Director at King County Metro. She joined Metro’s Zero Emissions (ZE) team in September 2023 as the Operational Readiness Lead and became Director in June 2026. Sunny leads the overall ZE program strategy and leads cross-functional teams who are collectively responsible for delivering the ZE program. She has extensive transit experience having held multiple positions at Metro during her 22 years at the agency.

Metro made the commitment to transition to an all zero-emission fleet powered by renewable energy to advance our climate and equity priorities. Over the coming years, we’ll buy zero-emissions buses, continue to invest in electric trolleys, add charging infrastructure to existing bases, invest in new technology systems to manage an evolving fleet and support our workforce through this transition.
