Description

Since Oregon adopted the nation's first gas tax in 1919, fuel taxes have been a major source of funding for local, state, and national transportation needs. As we phase out the consumption of fossil fuels in transportation, there is an increasingly urgent need to develop new funding sources for transportation. This transition also creates an opportunity to develop tools that are more equitable, economically efficient, and environmentally sustainable. Our panelists will explore this challenge, and promising ideas for funding transportation in the coming decades.
