Speaker Bio
Jack Symington is the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator’s (LACI) Director, City Climate Innovation, focusing on bringing LACI’s model of connecting clean energy startups with municipalities to cities across the US. Previously, Jack managed LACI’s medium and heavy-duty vehicle electrification efforts, including infrastructure planning and policy for drayage trucks and developing projects to bring zero emission goods movement to Southern California. Jack also managed the Transportation Electrification Partnership, a private/public partnership aimed to advance electrification in Los Angeles before the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Jack’s efforts at LACI have focused on port drayage truck electrification, including the 710 Blueprint, which engaged with communities in the region to identify priority locations for charging infrastructure based on truck traffic patterns and utility capacities. This planning effort has then led to $15.5 million of federal, state, and regional public funding across three sites, matched with additional private sector investment. Jack’s additional planning efforts have focused on transportation electrification planning for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, focusing on the charging infrastructure that can support the Games and benefit the region’s transportation systems for the long term.
