Harriet Tregoning is Director of NUMO, the New Urban Mobility alliance, a collaborative effort aimed at harnessing disruptions in urban transportation to make cities more sustainable, livable and just. NUMO is currently working to ensure that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funds have the greatest possible impact on the health and prosperity of communities, increasing their affordable access, resilience, and low-carbon connections to jobs and daily needs.

Harriet previously served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of Community Planning and Development at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the Obama Administration. At HUD, she initiated $1-billion National Disaster Resilience Competition and supported communities in building strong and resilient economies. As Director of the D.C. Office of Planning, Harriet helped to make the nation’s capital walkable, bikeable, equitable and globally competitive. Harriet also was Secretary of Planning in Maryland and a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She is a leadership advisor to the Rails to Trails Conservancy and is on the boards of ioby, a community leadership development program and crowdfunding platform for neighborhood-scale projects, and the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy.
